• 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup frozen corn kernels
  • 1 cup frozen mixed peas & carrots
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes, heated
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Smoked paprika, to taste, optional

Heat Presto® 6-quart multi-cooker to 325°. Add butter, onions, and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes while stirring with a wooden spoon. Add ground beef to multi-cooker and break apart with spoon. In a small bowl, mix Italian seasoning , garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add to beef mixture; mix well. Cook until meat is browned, about 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to 200°.

Blend flour and tomato paste into beef mixture. Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir continuously for 2 minutes until well incorporated. Stir in frozen corn and peas & carrots. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Smooth mixture into an even layer. Reduce heat to WARM.  

Gently spoon the heated mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture. Carefully spread into an even layer. Top with shredded cheese. Sprinkle with smoked paprika, if desired.

Cover and let rest for about 10 minutes.

Shopping Tip:

Ground pork or turkey can be substituted for ground beef. Chicken or vegetable broth can be substituted for beef broth.
